Asbestos Roof

Asbestos Roof

Through the 1920's to the 1980's Asbestos was used in many different roofing products. Its use was so widespread that we now know asbestos-containing materials (products classified as containing at least 1% asbestos) are in nearly 80% of buildings and structures that were built before 1980's. Most roofing products have a long life span like asbestos cement, which can last up to 30-50 years! These dangers could still easily be present in your home or office building. Why Asbestos was so popular is simple; it was versatile, strong, and fire resistant. The roof of house is required to be fire proof and it also needs to maintain strength making Asbestos sound like the perfect product at the time. Asbestos because of its extreme durability made it the choice for reinforcement in glues, mortars, and cements. It was also weather resistant as well. Only about 30% of a given material had Asbestos in it, but that doesn't make these materials safe. Do not disturb any Asbestos related properties until you have it properly tested.
